High quality transport and infrastructure impinge on economic growth and are key factors in determining a successful city. Having initiated the conurbation's tram proposals in 1988, NDE continues to play an active role in transport issues and contributes significantly to the strategic thinking across the local area.

NDE led the original proposals for the NET tram system, generating £1.5 million of local sponsorship.
NDE chairs the NET Partnership board which has overseen the planning of Lines 2 and 3 of Nottingham's tram network
The Station Masterplan NDE chairs the Station Masterplan Steering Group, progressing plans to turn the station into a world-class transport hub for train, tram, taxi, car, bus, coach, walking and cycling. A multi-million pound development surrounding the station will create new homes, offices and shops.
Big Wheel As part of the Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership (GNTP) NDE also established the Big Wheel project to market transport in the area, as well as leading on major physical schemes that integrate transport and regeneration
